Project Overview

Located in Portage, Pennsylvania, CPV Maple Hill Solar sits on a former coal mine and has been repurposed to bring clean energy to the Commonwealth. At the time CPV Maple Hill entered operations in December 2023, it was the largest solar project in the state.

The 100-MWac facility consists of over 235,000 bi-facial solar panels and single-axis tracking to maximize energy production. Generating approximately 185,000 MWh annually, the facility will help avoid nearly 100,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions annual by displacing generation from older, non-renewable facilities.

This project ties into the Penelec/First Energy Grid and will fund upgrades to the transmission lines in the immediate area.

Community Benefits

Generates new revenue that can be used toward local education and services.
Created 250 jobs during the construction phase and engaged local firms and individuals for engineering, surveying, site preparation, and construction.
